IRENE WANGLER-HIMMELSBACH lives and works in Basel. After professional training in classical dance, she deepened her artistic creativity through intensive study of painting.
In her eventful life, the search for an analogy between dance and painting was a challenge. Her love of Andalusia and flamenco has been an inspiration for her subjects for years. The rhythmically composed fiery red large-format paintings play a major role in the painter's works. Her intense relationship with Salvador Dali, her friend and mentor, has also left deep traces in her painting.
"Dali was a good friend to me, but at the same time he was an enormously important mentor for my entire life, a mentor for my entire artistic career, a man who always encouraged me to go further in my creative expression."
