Clear language of form, muted colors: physical attributes are the main themes of the works of Ralf Bohnenkamp. Through layering and physicality, they transform – the clear becomes opaque, the constant erratic, the safe precarious. With his paintings, he explores the possibilities that paint on a canvas has to offer; and so he pulls up thin strands, to create a remarkable sense of space. Or uses resin, that he spreads on a piece like a membrane. He mixes textures, with new heights pushing through. His art pulls the spectator into a new world of shapes and colors.
